Humanist Society Scotland

Championing Kindness, Reason, and Equality Across Scotland

Humanist Society Scotland is the leading voice for humanism in Scotland, promoting kindness, reason, and equality in all aspects of life. We provide meaningful ceremonies, advocate for human rights, and support a secular society where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. With a focus on community, education, and ethical living, we aim to make Scotland a fairer, more inclusive place for all.

The Problem

The Humanist Society Scotland’s existing branding and website no longer reflected the breadth of their work or the modern, inclusive identity they wanted to project. The branding felt dated and disjointed, especially as the organisation had so many different areas of focus, from campaigns and ceremonies to guidance on humanism itself. The website struggled to accommodate these varied strands, making it difficult for visitors to navigate and for the society to present itself as a unified voice. It also lacked the depth of features members needed, such as logins, a secure members’ area, and streamlined processes for wedding bookings.

The Solution

We began with a full rebrand, refreshing the logo and creating a modern visual identity that tied together the many arms of the organisation. Alongside this, we produced a set of brand guidelines to ensure the new identity could be used consistently across all channels. The new website was then designed to present this unified branding while giving clear structure to different sections like Campaigns, Ceremonies, and guidance about humanism. A clever use of colour coding helped users move easily between areas while still feeling part of one cohesive whole. The site was also expanded with practical features including blogs, a members’ area with secure logins, and an integrated wedding booking system. The result is a professional, welcoming, and functional website that truly reflects the Society’s values and the many services it provides.
